Moonbow

Maudie is an ordinary young girl with few talents. Youngest of three sisters - the bitches - and a brother. Lives on a farm in East Anglia, hates farm life. It's 1919, the Great War is over, young men who fought in hell are back home, the nightmare of it always in their heads. In Maudie's head there's another nightmare, one she daren't let into her mind. She sees the Major, falls in love, knows he loves her too. Unhappily married, he leaves home, goes to London. She's heartbroken. One night sees the moonbow. Knows it's a sign she must go and find him. She goes. That night, that very first night, she's face to face with nightmare. And then, in broad daylight, the nightmare breaks free. She's face to face with what she's tried to hide. Through all this, three love stories, one of them Maudie's, throb their heartbeats. And a vision of heaven on earth, a garden city, struggles to be born. Always there's hope of a happy-ever-after.
