A female hiker disappears in a snowstorm

Retired detective Bill O'Shea plans a cozy afternoon by the fire with his girlfriend. But then a missing hiker is found dead in a snowbank, shot twice by a hunting rifle. When ballistics experts declare no one could make that shot in the middle of a snowstorm, Bill is back on the case.

Initial inquiries reveal the victim was president of a gun club whose officers are all marksmen with questionable alibis. Amidst the investigation, Bill's love life grows icy when his ex-wife arrives and creates drama with his girlfriend.
