Murdered in Conard County

They can only solve the perfect murder
If they work together.

After a shot rings out in the night, park ranger Blaire Afton knows her hard-won serenity is in jeopardy. At the remote Twin Rocks Campground, a camper lies dead in his tent, leaving a terrified four-year-old boy huddled in the dark.

But when she’s faced with a murder with no motive and no clues, US forest ranger Gus Maddox agrees with her suspicion that this is no random crime. Riding in from the adjacent national forest on his pinto gelding, Gus detects the cold discipline of a stalker watching from the ridges.

Borrowing a chestnut mare, Blaire joins Gus to scour the rugged slopes for the sniper’s hidden perch. Can two battle-scarred veterans track an elusive predator without letting old combat nightmares dull their edge?

An undeniable attraction threatens to breach the emotional walls they built to survive. With their shared military past, Blaire and Gus become close. But will their need for each other hinder their quest for justice?
