My Brother's Keeper

Dominic Barratt is a priest who has a degree in Psychology. When ordered by his bishop to use his expertise to assist fellow priests in difficulties, he is appalled; he has his own serious problems of conscience. However he cannot refuse because he is bound by his vow of Obedience.


Years earlier, Dominic had been engaged to Hazel Price, but the relationship ended acrimoniously when he left her to join the priesthood. Now, Dominic is tormented by constant thoughts about Hazel. He has also begun to have serious doubts about his faith.


Matters come to a head when Hazel gets a job the department where he works in the diocesan headquarters. She makes it clear that she is determined to get him to resign and marry her.
