Old Hickory’s Prisoner

Barely escaping mob violence in New London, Hubert Delaroche, a descendant of Cedric the Forester, volunteers as a messenger during the War of 1812, as he is too young to enlist.

Commodore Decatur’s attempt to run a British blockade forces Hubert to escape through the Cumberland Mountains to Tennessee.

There he joins Andrew Jackson’s army and makes a new friend, a Shawnee Indian named Blue Feather.

This is an excellent living book, brining the War of 1812 to life!
