Professional Development Differentiated & Digitized
University & School Partnerships for Technology Integration and Adoption
Publisher Description
Professional Develop, Differentiated, and Digitized (PD3) describes the work and outcomes of a partnership between Ball State University teacher education students and the Muncie Community Schools. The project was funded by a Ball State University Provost immersive learning grant and supported the school districts adoption of the Schoology Learning Management System (LMS).
K12 teacher education candidates engaged MCS personnel in order to successfully implement the LMS. Candidates organized professional develop opportunities, helped teachers develop digital curriculum and assessments, and promoted use of the LMS through a technology mentoring program that pairs teacher education students with classroom teachers to learn from each other and to address contextual factors impacting technology adoption.
Ball State students also developed STEM after school curriculum and taught the curriculum to first through third grade students for twelve weeks throughout the semester. The Ball State students modeled effective technology integration and instructional practices for classroom teachers and differentiated instruction to meet the developmental knowledge and skills of the children.
