John Stuart, an accountant in Jasper, Alberta, and Elspeth Stone, an Alberta rancher's daughter, have been family friends for years. Their challenge, on the Rocky  Mountain Christmas Train, is to rescue a family's Christmas, but as they work together their friendly relationship no longer seems to fit.

John has been resolutely pursuing his goal of becoming a partner in his firm, but now that ambition could mean their challenge will not be completed. What will he sacrifice to win his heart's desire?
