Adrienne was stolen two years ago. She sits in Moon Shadow Prison after being experimented on and used by the Pakian king, owner of Moon Shadow. Power courses through her veins, but so do traumas and unknown darkness which could send her spiraling at any given moment. 

Years earlier and south of Moon Shadow, Ace — pirate lord of Messisanias — began seeing visions of a girl. He holds the power of the Dessa's — god-like figures who chose him to possess a fragment of their power — and waits for the day he can leave the Dessa's behind, along with the power he believes to be a curse. When word of sixteen girls who were stolen and carted away to Moon Shadow Prison reaches his ears, Ace wonders if the girl who he's seen in his mind is among them.  

 Adrienne gains freedom, only to land in the hands of the illusive pirate lord of Messisanias. Their interests collide when everything shifts and Adrienne realizes she is not simply an experiment, but an equal to Ace. And now she must work together with Ace to break their bond with the Dessa's and free themselves of a higher power which has slowly begun to tear them apart.
