Some things you can't outrun. You can't deny. You can't avoid. I've spent years trying to escape from something that I can't run from. I'm finally ready to stop. To go back. I've heard you can never go home again. I hope that's not true.

It was a horrific crash. That's what everyone said who remembered what happened. And in a small town like Crossroads, everyone remembered. My brother and I lost our parents that day and, in an instant, our lives changed forever. My name is Tess McCabe, and this is my story.
I fled Crossroads as soon as I was able and didn't look back. I wanted to leave it all behind, family, friends, and, most importantly, memories. I started a new life somewhere else and did my best to forget. And it worked for many years…until now. Now, I'm going back home.
I had two best friends growing up. One of them I fell in love with, and then I destroyed our relationship. And, the other just died unexpectedly from an aneurysm. For such a small town, Crossroads has a disproportionate share of tragedy. Or, maybe tragedy is just felt more deeply in a place where everyone knows everyone else. On top of that, my career has gone off the rails, which starkly highlights that outside of work, I have nothing. 
I'm returning to Crossroads to face the family I pushed away, the man I crushed, and the friends I left behind. Would it be the hometown I remembered? Would I belong again like I used to? Can I find a piece of my old self? The person I used to be. The person I lost all those years ago.
