Stranded on Mars

Earth, we have a problem. When their launch vehicle engine fails, the first Mars team is stranded on Mars. Earth is a hundred million miles away. Rescue is months—maybe years—off. Can the astronauts put their mothballed Mars base back together and live off its leftovers? 


The next shot window is two years off. Bureaucratic inertia threatens even that pessimistic schedule. Crisis funding demands are growing; budgets are shrinking. Can the astronauts outlive the fiscal storm ahead?


NASA engineers work around the clock searching for ways to keep the Mars crew alive until help arrives. Is their goal Rescue mission or body recovery? The astronauts don't need it perfect; they need it now. Can NASA engineers put their clashing egos aside and support the astronauts?
