That Promise

This is a short story nonfiction based on the gripping events that unfolded on December 3, 2015 when I came to realize that I was going to die at the hands of a man I loved and adored. Being married only ten short months and, being faced with a life and death dilemma, forced me to do what I needed to take care of myself and made me realize that I would become another statistic if I did not take control of my life and leave; love or no love.
