Hall Caine (1853–1931) was a British novelist and playwright closely associated with the Isle of Man. One of the most popular authors of his time, he wrote emotionally powerful stories exploring love, faith, sacrifice, and moral conflict. His best-known novels include The Bondman, The Manxman, and The Christian. A friend of the poet and painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Caine achieved international success, and several of his works were adapted for the stage and screen.
