The Devil's Acolyte

In the volatile world of post-Soviet St. Petersburg, journalist Alex, known to himself as Alejandro, has become accustomed to living several lives at once. His work gives him access to politicians, businessmen and intelligence officers, while a secret relationship with a security-service handler teaches him that information is both currency and protection.

Then he meets Samael, the Angel of Death.

Samael has been sent to Earth with an extraordinary mission: to determine whether the human experiment has failed. He recruits Alejandro as his observer, assistant and reluctant moral witness. Soon the journalist finds himself serving three masters, each demanding information, loyalty and silence. As political intrigue and a planned assassination draw those worlds together, Alejandro discovers that knowledge offers no immunity from the forces he has helped expose.

Darkly ironic and philosophical without abandoning suspense, The Devil's Acolyte is a literary supernatural thriller about power, faith, free will and the dangerous illusion that an observer can remain outside the story he is watching.
