The Fading Field

Days after a vision at the Meridian's moon-rock case, night guard Elias Thorne has a passport, a plane ticket, and a reason to go farther than he has ever gone: an island at the edge of the world, where something left behind is fading fast.

The Aethelari have survived seventy thousand years by keeping one rule. They do not wake the sleepers, the hidden ones living ordinary human lives with no idea what they are. But the Hollow has found Earth, and there are too few of them to stand against it alone.

Now the rule must bend. One person at a time. Only with consent, and only with the truth about what saying yes might cost.

Every message Elias sends rings a bell. Every bell carries farther than the last. And back in Philadelphia, someone has started counting the missing minutes on the museum's security footage.

The darkness is listening.

Some threads hold. Some fade. And one touch can change everything.
