Novelist's Biography:

Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) was a British-American author best known for her children's books, including "The Secret Garden," "A Little Princess," and "Little Lord Fauntleroy." Born in Manchester, England, Burnett moved to the United States in 1865 with her family, where she began writing to support them financially.

Her first literary success came with the publication of her story "Surly Tim" in Scribner's Monthly in 1872. She went on to write numerous novels, short stories, and plays, often featuring strong female protagonists who overcome adversity. Burnett's works were widely popular during her lifetime and continue to be beloved by readers around the world.

Burnett's personal life was marked by tragedy, including the death of her son from tuberculosis and the breakdown of her marriage. She ultimately found happiness with her second husband, Dr. Stephen Townsend, whom she married in 1900.

Frances Hodgson Burnett died in 1924 at the age of 74 in Plandome, New York. She is remembered as a pioneer of children's literature and an advocate for women's rights..

Synopsis:
