The Olive Tree Primary School

Set up in 2013, The Olive Tree Primary School in Bolton caters for students from ages 6 to 11. The majority of the students are from some of the most disadvantaged areas in the UK. Most are from minority ethnic backgrounds with English as an additional language. The easy-to-use and reliable nature of Apple technology that’s used in the school’s iPad one-to-one programme allows the teachers and students to reach a potential that wouldn’t ordinarily be possible. The school vision is “Believe you can”. Opportunities are created for students to direct their own learning through methods such as content creation, voice feedback and coding, which are all supported by Apple technology. The use of recorded voice feedback has significantly improved students’ understanding of teachers’ feedback and their ability to progress more quickly compared to traditional handwritten marking.
