The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) was an English Poet and philosopher, a bright representative of the so-called ‘Lake Poets’. During his college years he was absorbed by revolutionary ideas and eventually got expelled for that. Not so many years passed and he became a representative of romanticism, fascinated ancient and medieval times. The quintessence of his literary career was the membership in the ‘Lake Poets’ society, a club where poets combined worship of the nature with their own distinctictive philosophy.


'The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner' is one of the most notable literary works by Samuel Taylor Coleridge — a poem that was first published as a part of 'Lyrical Ballads' collection book. The plot of the poet goes round the supernatural events that happened to a sailor during a voyage.
