The Road Between us

Miguel thought London was the beginning of a better life.

A Portuguese immigrant working in a small grocery store, he had spent a year building a future from hard work, long hours, and quiet determination. Life was finally moving in the right direction—until the day Nazifa walked through the door.

What begins as a chance encounter soon becomes something neither of them expected.

Nazifa carries a past she has spent a lifetime trying to survive. Sold by her parents at the age of twelve and trapped for decades under the control of a man who viewed her as property rather than a person, she has never known true freedom. Behind her calm exterior lies a story of fear, sacrifice, and endurance.

As their connection slowly grows, Miguel finds himself drawn into a world far darker than he imagined. What starts as friendship becomes trust, and trust becomes a bond powerful enough to challenge everything Nazifa has ever known.

But escaping the past is never simple.
