The Settlers in Canada

Captain Frederick Marryat (1792 – 1848) was a British Royal Navy officer, novelist, and an acquaintance of Charles Dickens, noted today as an early founder of the sea story.

“The Settlers in Canada” is a beatiful children's novel written by Frederick Marryat. The plot of the novel is set in the wilderness of Upper Canada in the 1790s. It describes the adventures of an immigrant family who settle near Lake Ontario, despite the threats from the native people and wild animals.
