Intrigue, then, is as much a feature as romance and glamour. When a 30-something magazine writer whose own personal life is in disarray is sent to interview the Evelyn Hugo, now almost 80, she can’t imagine why the actor has requested her. Her confusion only builds when she’s offered much more than the usual celebrity interview: her subject’s apparently uncensored life story.
