Everyone thinks I’m a genius.
Everyone is wrong.
Sure, I finished Harvard at eighteen and now make crazy money at a hedge fund. But that’s not because I’m unusually smart or hard-working.
It’s because I cheat.
You see, I have a unique ability. I can go outside time into my own personal version of reality—the place I call “the Quiet”—where I can explore my surroundings while the rest of the world stands still.
I thought I was the only one who could do this—until I met her.
My name is Darren, and this is how I learned that I’m a Reader.

Good for a commute or road trip
Overall, I think this is a great audiobook for people who commute (like I do) or are maybe going on a road trip. The story is very interesting, and the idea itself is creative.
Beginning with the good points, the performance is well done (words enunciated clearly, good pace) and the story mostly carried along at an even pace as well. Neither the story nor the narration feels rushed. The idea and explanations are conveyed clearly so most people can understand and follow the story easily. In addition, the use of modern languages and moderate sarcasm help give the book a more modern, realistic feeling.
The not good points are very few. First, there were some parts in the narration where the sound/voice/volume changed a bit suddenly. Nothing drastic, but it was there. Also, the ending was, at least to me, slightly predictable. Not that it took away from enjoying the story, but I know some people like to be completely surprised.
All in all, I think this book is definitely worth checking out, and I will very likely be getting the second book.
