Sailor Kris Crossman has problems while stationed in Rhodes, Greece. The prostitute with strong feelings for him is brutally murdered. The sinister anti-American police inspector suspects Kris. Kris meets and falls in love with the prostitute's sister, Lari. Lari's father ferociously rebuffs Kris's approaches to Lari. The killer is wading in blood and upping his body count. Kris is learning the Greek language to court Lari and befriending locals. The crew on the Courier, Kris's ship, thinks he's going native. The killer has targeted Lari.
