This strangling can be excess dirt, mulch, sucker roots, or girdling roots. The tree will invariably need a root collar excavation.

Remember, anyone you call for help should show you a copy of their license; example, Certified Arborist. Not all Certified Arborists are created equal and you will be able to discuss this when talking to them. If they do any work for you, have the person to get you a copy of their insureance.
