Sisters Jennifer and Heather are close, but lead very different lives. When Jennifer disappears Heather begins a frantic search. She finds the love and support she needs in the arms of Jessie, the police officer helping her find Jennifer.

Alex, a Captain in the Union Army, is ready to go to war at Wilsons Creek in 1861 when Jennifer suddenly appears in his camp. He doesnt quite know what to think of Jennifer. She talks funny, she dresses funny, and she refuses to tell him where she came from.
