Ubiquitous Computing in Schools

Today, more and more school leaders are realizing the visionary reality of providing a computer to each and every student in their school. While this notion is not new—neither the vision for using a personal computer to construct knowledge nor handing out laptops, tablets, or Chromebooks—there are a lot of questions for school district leaders to ponder before they start. The authors of this book (school-based and district administrators in public schools) conducted research with school leaders across five different districts to figure out what the best practices for starting a 1:1 initiative should be. This research-based book should be of interest to school principals, technology directors, superintendents, and other instructional leaders as they ponder how to start, or how to lead in the first few years of a 1:1 implementation.
