Verita

We meet Verita as an old and homeless black woman. Her name strikes a chord with the priest that runs the local homeless kitchen, setting off his search for her true identity. As we go back to her childhood in depression era Missouri, we learn that Verita’s ‘gifts’ raise fear and suspicion in her pastor, thus setting him on a course that will change the course of Verita’s life. The town where she lives with her loving and protective parents, is rife with hatred, deceit, and racism. And no matter how hard they try, Verita’s family can’t avoid the ugliness and suffering some of the towns people are bent on inflicting. From the evilness that arises, Verita’s life takes a journey through an asylum where she finally meets the one person that can tell her story to the world. Her story is one of free will and choices carefully made by men.
