NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this exciting installment of the bestselling Graceling Realm series, Queen Bitterblue sets off on a perilous journey while a teenager with a fiery spirit finally comes into her own power.
“Brilliantly expands the mythology and terrain of the Graceling Realm, folding lush characterization, political complexity, and a mythical undertow into an epic, page-turning plot.”—Melissa Albert, New York Times bestselling author of The Hazel Wood series
For the past five years, Queen Bitterblue of Monsea has heroically rebuilt her nation after her father’s horrific reign. Now she has learned of a land called Torla in the east, and the closest nation there: Winterkeep—a place where telepathic foxes bond with humans, and people fly across the sky in wondrous airships. She sends envoys there, but when they fail to return, Bitterblue, with her most trusted companions, sets off for Winterkeep herself. On the way, tragedy strikes—a tragedy with devastating ramifications.
And meanwhile, in Winterkeep, Lovisa Cavenda waits and watches, a fire inside her that is always hungry. The teenage daughter of two powerful politicians, she is the key to unlocking everything—but only if she’s willing to transcend the person she’s been all her life.
The Graceling Realm books are a companion series, not direct sequels, so they can be enjoyed in any order.

A wonderful read
I fell in love with Kristin Cashore‘s books when Graceling first came out. I was fortunate to work in a library and read it before it hit the shelves. Just as the first book was a wonder to read, this too was wonderful. I enjoyed her take on the two party political system explaining that both sides might have good intention but also hidden agendas. I enjoyed her fervent expression of the need to care for our environment and the creatures within it. I honestly love this world she has created and hope that we don’t have to wait so long for future additions.
