You can run, but you can’t hide.

It’s the end of November and bitterly cold in the Lake District and a frozen decomposed body is found in a peat ditch up on Bampton Common high above Haweswater reservoir. DI Kelly Porter is called to investigate, but right away she’s puzzled by the arrows found around the body – not your average murder weapon.

By digging into missing persons reports from across the country, Kelly is able to trace an ID. However, this brings more questions than answers when links to other cases across the UK come to light. The area has always been a favourite with hunters – could they have turned to human prey? Kelly skirts closer to the truth, but a betrayal wounds her deeply and she needs all the support she can get to defend her team and uncover some sinister secrets.
