On March 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake dreadfully destroyed Rikuzentakata in Northern Japan.
This picture book is about “Matsubokkuri-chan (little pinecone)” who starts walking toward the reconstruction with many thanks that fills her heart.
Before the earthquake, there was a beautiful pine woods in Rikuzentakata but it was all washed away by tsunami.
The character of "Matsubokkuri-chan" was born and inspired by the buds that came out from the pinecones of the lost woods and the children who create the future. Recommended by Mayor and Vice-Mayor of Rikuzentakata.
