Part of the Sea

For this book, I took a narrative that I wrote, and broke it down more and more to dissect the mot important parts out of it. The narrative was about my near drowning experience in the Atlantic Ocean a few years ago.  I took what was then dissected from the narrative and then wrote a poem out of it. I focused on specific words, feelings, and emotions I was experiencing in that exact moment of the narrative. I broke the poem down organized each stanza by a specific word. I also took exact quotes from the original narrative and included them with imagery. I created emotion through the words, and color. I also included audio, which consists of sounds that I was hearing in that exact moment as well. The whole piece is about how I felt in that exact moment. The thing is, I would not describe this experience as a negative experience. One may look at this poem and get a positive reaction, which is good. I took this drowning incident as a positive experience for myself. At only a small point during my incident did I feel negative. The rest of the time I was experiencing something I never have before. I was taking it all in in that moment and I walked away with a very content attitude.
