THIBODEAUX v. WAL-MART, 98 0556 (La.App. 1 Cir. 4/1/99); ___ So.2d ___ Defendant, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (Wal-Mart), appealed the trial court's grant of a Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict on the issue of damages. For the amounts contested on appeal, the jury awarded plaintiff; Gloria D. Thibodeaux, a total of $12,000 for mental and physical pain and suffering, and $18,125 in medical expenses. The trial court granted the plaintiff's motion for JNOV, increased the award for pain and suffering to $150,000, and awarded the full amount of medical expenses claimed, $36,250. We affirm.
