The Time Machine

A dark novella from H.G. Wells, one of the fathers of the science-fiction genre, in which an unnamed Victorian inventor creates a time machine, and travels into a future that is not the grave and intellectual posterity that he had hoped to find, but rather a frightening picture of a society in which the inequalities of class and opportunity of the traveller's own era have brought about the ultimate decay of mankind.
