Up, Up and Away

Up, Up and Away tells of the author's experience in making her own hot air balloons including accidentally setting a paddock and her husband to be alight, her escapades chasing such home made balloons across the suburban night skies and her experience of going up in a piloted hot air balloon which landed on its side in a paddock, skidding through cow manure towards a herd of startled milk cows. The story also looks at the first hot air balloon which took off in the Palace of Versailles in front of Louis XVI carrying a sheep,, a rooster and a duck. They survived the 3.5 km long journey and were hailed by the king as 'heroes of the sky'.
