Any Shape or Form

In the ninth Henry Gamadge mystery, a polite cocktail party at a grand country estate turns into a scene of shocking violence. The gathering is interrupted when the abrasive and widely disliked Miss "Aunt Johnny" Temperley is found shot to death in the garden. Gamadge, who is among the guests, must immediately turn his attention from social pleasantries to homicide investigation. With the police baffled by the lack of physical evidence, Gamadge focuses on the psychological clues, specifically a fragment of conversation overheard just before the murder regarding things despised in "any shape or form." He must sift through a group of sophisticated suspects, all of whom had ample reason to wish the victim gone.
