INTRODUCTION Data mining may be defined as "the exploration and analysis, by automatic or semiautomatic means, of large quantities of data in order to discover meaningful patterns and rules" (Berry and Gordon 1997). Hence, it may be considered mining knowledge from large amounts of data since it involves knowledge extraction, as well as data/pattern analysis (Han and Kamber, 2001).
