Exploring English Morphology

This Exploring English Morphology ebook/etext with integrated workbook is written using a morphology-based approach to learning new vocabulary. There is ample support in the academic literature for this strategy as part of overall vocabulary development for ESL learners, as well as for native English speakers.

The ebook has evolved from courses utilizing this instructional method in an intensive English language program, courses that have been taught to both students and faculty numerous times since 2009. Much effort has been made to shape the material so that it is useful to ESL and English-native speakers alike.
Exploring English Morphology assumes that the learner has acquired a moderate base of English vocabulary before beginning study. The goal is to build that primarily sight-based word familiarity into a strengthened and flexible ability to approach and master new vocabulary, achieved  through learning word analysis skills and specific morpheme meanings.
