Gender is Performance: When do I get to Walk Off Stage is a collection of self portraits and short poems by Jed Rodriguez, a Queer/Trans/Latinx young artist from the Bay Area. This book is rooted in my struggles as a trans young person trying to navigate a world that constantly invalidates my existence. A world that asks me to participate in the subjugation of femmes in order to construct a valid masculinity. This book explores my relationship to femininity and masculinity as I struggle to delve deeper into my authentic self. I hope this book inspires others to think critically about the ways they participate in gender.
