Hagaddah Project

Telling the stories of Jewish generations in San Francisco

Publisher Description

Students in Morah Rachel’s Third Grade-Bet Class at Temple Emanu-El embarked on an inter-generational journalism project. The objective of this project was to connect the younger Jewish generation with the older one, in order to foster understanding, learn from one another, and strengthen the Jewish community. Students prepared for this project by writing interview questions, practicing important interview techniques, and mastering photography. On the day of the interview, students and adults interviewed one another at the Temple. After the interview day, students were excited to compile their notes and write two stories: one about their interview subject and another about themselves. Special thanks to co-teachers Liron, Charlotte and Tyler, in addition to Temple Emanu-El staff Heather Erez and Sandy Rechtschaffen for your support. Of course, thank you to our interviewees for donating your time.
