First, I got a gene splice, gained the ability to mind speak, and then my employer uploaded me with the specs of their new intra-stellar interceptor prototype—the Praying Mantis. My job as test nav was to push that sucker to the stops, and did, several times. I’ve even flown missions against hostile aliens. And what did I get for it? A cultural outreach post on Sagittarius 43. I sure didn’t see that one coming.
