(IN)VISIBLE

Publisher Description

This book, part of the ART project founded by Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, features photographs of a still-life orchid flowers taken in near infrared spectrum.

Near infrared photography extends the vision of the camera beyond the limits of the human eye, affording a new photographic and pictorial dimension, as well as a medium for making record and technical photographs not otherwise possible. Photosynthesising plants absorb most visible light (less green than red and blue, which is why they’re green to our eyes!) but reflect near-infrared. This is why healthy plants and trees, rich in chlorophyll, present themselves with otherworldly brightness.
