Rookwood

Complete and unabridged, with 47 full-page plates by Thomas Gainsborough, Joseph Wright of Derby and George Stubbs. A disputed inheritance, a gypsy camp, a tomb opened at midnight, and Dick Turpin riding from London to York in a night. Ainsworth's first success; the ride belonged to another highwayman until Ainsworth gave it to Turpin, and it has been believed ever since. This edition binds 47 plates after Grimshaw, Stubbs, Gainsborough and Romney, alongside 13 illustrations restored and coloured for the text.
