Publisher Description

Spring of 1944, and the number one thing on everyone’s mind was, when will the invasion of France take place? Novices began their duties, wondering when it would happen. Some veterans stayed on, waiting for the word. So much was at stake, so much involved with this huge undertaking. Thousands of ships and aircraft, millions of men, would clash on the beaches of France. What part will I play? Will I make a difference? Those two questions every Fighter Pilot asked himself. Leaders like Bob and Ted knew they would do their very best, so would their men. The rest, they realized, was a matter of Fate.
They knew the Germans still had thousands of aircraft, they would surely use them against the Allied Fleet. Would they be hitting our men on the beaches? It shaped up to be a great battle, the fate of the invasion would hang in the balance. Eleanor is young, and probably a little too sure that her world would turn out fine. Nothing would happen to her man. Devon is older, she had already been a widow. When would Ted want out? Would the invasion be the trigger? Some of the Eagles had already sailed for home, when would we? The remaining wives shared one thought, ‘Please let my man survive to take me to America!’ How would these young British women brave the New World? Could each of them leave England, with the War not yet won?
Questions for each young woman to answer from her heart. They were a brave lot; their men were very lucky. Would they be bright enough to appreciate what they had? Time will tell.
