Author
Richard Bernard Heldmann was born on October 12, 1857, in St. Johns Wood, North Central London, to Joseph Heldmann and Emma Marsh. He was the firstborn child in the family. Marsh studied at Eton College and Oxford University. His initial creative endeavors were short stories, mostly adventure tales, published under the name "Bernard Heldmann" until he adopted the pen name "Richard Marsh" in 1893. During his career, which lasted from 1880 until his death in 1915, he published numerous best-selling works. Additionally, he was a regular contributor to the periodicals of fin de siècle fiction.
