The Vortex Blaster Makes War

Doctor Neal Cloud was once a warm family man until a rogue atomic vortex destroyed everything he loved, leaving behind a legend called "Storm" Cloud: civilization's only vortex blaster, a grief-hardened rescuer who secretly longs for death. But when a desperate distress call pulls him away from his lonely course through space, he finds not just wreckage, but a volatile clash of alien powers, stolen technology, and lives hanging by seconds. On the planet Dhil and its moon Lune, two nearly identical civilizations teeter on the edge of war. A Uhalian named Darjeeb has seized the war minister Luda to pry loose military secrets, only to discover a lifeboat moving with impossible inertialess speed. Hungry for power, he tries to claim the ship and its revolutionary science by force, threatening the frightened survivors aboard. Cloud arrives in his cruiser, boards with DeLameters and a hidden dureum hatchet, and cuts through armored resistance in a brutal close-quarters fight. As he struggles to decode alien languages and shifting loyalties, telepathic Luda reveals a world dying under atomic flame and a coup that could ignite interstellar catastrophe. Now Cloud must choose between rescue and war, while a dangerous vortex and enemy warships close in. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
