Publisher Description

Vain Yearnings is a tale of the sometimes bitter, desperate, and inevitable currents of the desires of life.  A story rooted in the adventures and hardships of an uncivil war with rich charaters entwined in the historical details of the time period.

Brookie and Luther are two young Union soldiers, both from Ohio, that are trekking their way through Georgia - from the mountains to the ocean - in the eventful year of 1864.  It is their first view of another world beyong their home provided by the American Civil War.  They endure tradegies, mayhem, and all the devastating insanity of war, but form a strong friendship in the process.

Brookie is determined to survive the war and go home to seek forgiveness from his father, whom he feel he has disrespected  by leaving home to join the war without his blessing.  Luther desires the adventure the war provides, but longs to return to his lover in waiting back in Ohio.  In the end, will the yearnings of these two soldiers in this exciting saga be in vain?
