Hettie Parke is at her wit's end. When her mother attempts to link the Parke name with something positive, her efforts sadly fail when someone trips over the body of property developer Carl Dalrymple at her charity auction in the Sunny Vale Community Centre. With the murder linked to a claim that her grandfather's land was acquired by fraud, it's hardly a surprise when the police investigation led by that detective considers her family likely suspects. But Hettie is frustrated when her investigation goes astray as she follows the more fanciful ideas on offer from her cousin Frank, and it's especially troublesome when her overly enthusiastic group of elderly sleuths find themselves in danger as a result. So when someone else's life comes under threat it's Ceefer whom Hettie calls on for help.
