A young man named Tomas dwells in the sleepy village in Belling. Apprenticed to his Uncle Rory, Tomas is on the way to becoming a blacksmith. But one day, their lives—and the lives of the people of Belling would be turned upside. The drumbeats of war had started. Young men were being called to serve. Tomas wonders whether he should go too.
