"Frank," I said, "Mr. Mason's sitting on his front porch." I moved away from the window and turned to my husband across the room. He was reading the newspaper. "Well, that's not unusual. Harold likes to sit out there." We usually called him Harold, but from time to time I said "Mr. Mason" because he's always been so formal and proper--something I liked. My Frank, on the other hand, was a football player in his youth, and that's still how his mind works, although he can be funny when he wants to.
