Publisher Description

Appellant, George D. Johnson, appeals from the trial court's denial of his motion to intervene in a dissolution action in which he formerly represented petitioner-wife. He also appeals from the dismissal of his contempt action against respondent-husband to enforce the attorney's fees awarded by the court directly to appellant in the dissolution action and in an adult abuse action. We reverse the judgment of the trial court dismissing appellant's contempt action and remand the cause to the trial court. We affirm the trial court's denial of appellant's motion to intervene. Petitioner, Sandra Minor (wife), filed her petition for dissolution of her marriage to respondent, Lynn Minor (husband), on July 31, 1991. Their marriage was dissolved on January 11, 1994. During the pendency of the dissolution action, wife obtained a full order of protection against husband, which was issued on June 22, 1992. In both actions, appellant, George D. Johnson (attorney), represented wife. In the order of protection the court awarded attorney's fees of $100.00 directly to attorney; and in the decree of dissolution the court awarded attorney's fees of $1,500.00, also directly to him.
