Publisher Description

Logan, a socially awkward, anxious recluse, is bordering on a midlife crisis – which is not unfamiliar territory given his existence is mired by mental health issues. Feeling lost in life, he sees no way out of the everyday mundane and is jealous of his friends who he deems live successful, happy lives.

With a bleak future, Logan begins searching for anything that will break his depression; and upon learning of a stranger’s journey of self-actualisation overseas, he sees this as the solution to his current life calamity.

But landing in a foreign country doesn’t hold the excitement he anticipated. Rather there is fear and anxiety. This is just the first of many challenges Logan faces, and through his experience, he contemplates whether his endeavour wasn’t really a fool’s errand.

However, the beautiful scenery and culture of South America begins to challenge his life perceptions, as do the personalities of his travelling companions Brice and Caitlin, as well as the attractive Sofia, whom quickly becomes his quaint love interest.

Having believed for most of his life that life consists of many paths, we need only to locate the right one, Logan suddenly finds himself in conflict as after a week into his journey, this belief is tremendously challenged and his view shifts from not “who am I?” to “what is my place in this world?” And the realisation that in life, our paths are never laid out; they are paved.

This novel is a blend of fiction and non-fiction, with a focus of exploring the intricacies of self-awareness, while also determining not just how we treat others, but also ourselves!
